Hello All!!!

Our meeting for this month will be on Wednesday , May 14th from 7:30am to 9:00am.  Please RSVP Tuesday, May13th to secure your reservation.

If you are in need of CPE please be sure to review the “Need CPE Opportunities” at the bottom of this email. 

Anyone who has not yet renewed their  membership has has their membership terminated by International.  However, you still have until May 30th to renew without paying the "New Member Fee.  If you have not renewed and would like to you can still do so though not online.  You will have have to follow the traditional methods for instructions go to www.isaca.org logon and click on renew.

Remember if you know anyone who might be interested or if you yourself would be interested in speaking we welcome the opportunity to learn.   Remember you do get CPE for presenting.  Also, if you have ideas for meeting topics please feel free to contact me with your ideas.  Your help would be greatly appreciated.

About the Topic

 

"Business Impact Analysis - A New Approach" 

This presentation will outline a new approach to business impact analysis, taking into consideration that as information technology is advancing, it is more an enabler of business rather than a support function.  This new approach differs from conventional approaches to business impact analysis by identifying the business processes that are enabled by IT– the common thread between IT and business.

 

About the Speaker

 

Shankar Swaroop CISM, PMP, OCP is currently an IT project manager at FedEx in information security – business continuity and disaster recovery. He holds an MBA from University of Texas at Austin and is a CPA from India. Has over 12 years of varied experience all the way from audit, finance to IT and Project Management. Has worked in manufacturing, transportation and IT industry and is a published author in PMI, ISACA and DRJ.

IT Audit Manager - Responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and controlling audits in assigned areas of the company.  Responsible for scheduling resources and performing initial work paper reviews for the audit staff.  Has the ability to be a liason between IT Audit and Senior Management, the Regulators, and External Auditors.  Develops reporting that is useful to IT Audit Director and the Auditor, interested parties, IT and business line management, technical staff and the company's regulators.   Participates in administrative decisions concerning organization, direction, budgeting, and planning for the IT Audit function.

 

IT Audit Officer - This position is responsible for performing audits of various departments within the company to document and evaluate internal control systems, determine compliance with company policies and external regulations, and communicate results to management.  This position works as a team member and leader requiring accurate and thorough work, good leadership skills, and ability to foster client relations.   This position is responsible for overseeing audit activities for specific risk areas and ensuring the teams work is prioritized and completed timely.  A strong ability to work independently as well as with in a team, function as the in charge for engagements giving guidance, direction and training to the audit team.  A strong aptitude to apply partnering concepts that help clients resolve issues is required.
