About the Topic

"Memphis Police Department’s Real Time Crime Center RTCC"

The Memphis Police Department's Real Time Crime Center is a state of the art facility used for monitoring, evaluating and predicting criminal activity. Since crime knows no boundaries, the RTCC allows the MPD to expand their coverage. The RTCC also facilitates inter-agency cooperation between city, county, state and federal law enforcement agencies, through a data and resource-sharing initiative, that will ultimately involve agencies within a 75 mile radius of Memphis.

The RTCC also presents the public with an unprecedented view of the crime-related data, which will help citizens better understand their environment and what is happening in their immediate neighborhood. Citizens are now able to report to the Memphis Police Department on activities in their neighborhoods, and even email the investigators who are assigned to a particular case, by utilizing the CyberWatch system.

The RTCC serves as a public conduit, to other agencies, for access to databases such as local warrants, local criminal history records, local jail information, local property data, arrest affidavits, etc.

For an article on the Real Time Crime Center written in the August 2008 Downtowner Magazine please click on the attached PDF.
